Summer Daze: How to avoid impeding boredom( pt.2 )

I am writing this second part of my summer boredom post while I watch the National Geographic Geography Bee. Go ahead, judge me.

Take a weekend or even a day trip.... in Texas!

Float the San Marcos River! Spend your day floating and potentially boozing on the cool river in San Marcos,TX. Don't forget your water shoes! Check out this rental shop Lions Club Rental. Also feel free to stop by their ballin' outlet malls while you are down there. Neiman Marcus Last Call? Yes, please! Awesome for a weekend trip and could be done in a day if you were very, very determined. Schlitterbahn, the water park,  is also in nearby New Braunfels, but that could be a whole weekend...

Go the Czech Stop. Let me explain. The Czech Stop in West,TX ( yes that is a town named west, not a direction) is a gas station and bakery that offers up some of the most delectable creations known to man kind. Specializing in their kolaches, they are famous in Texas and worth a day trip, or a stop on your way somewhere else. I cant count how many times I have stopped here on my way to and from Houston. I genuinely think that these kolaches release endorphins that make you happy.  Here is my order at the Czech Stop, (in bulk) 1 dozen sausage and cheese kolaches. 1/2 a dozen cream cheese kolaches. 3 cherry and cream cheese kolaches. 3 apricot and cream cheese kolaches.

Get Away at the Gaylord Texan. If you feel the pressure of your summer job or your nagging parents, get away for a while at the Gaylord Texan. One of the famed resorts of the Gaylord group, this relaxing monstrosity of a hotel sits upon the beautiful Lake Grapevine. Aside from it's assorted restaurants and spa specials, the hotel also boasts some amazing ways to get cool. They have a lazy river, an artificial beach, and an enormous pool. This may not be the most good ole Texas getaway but it is sure to give you the peace and blessings you really want.

Get in the kitchen!

These are some delicious and easy recipes I have found for y'all to try. If I have discovered one thing the more that I actually cook what I eat, it is that there is nothing more satisfying then taking a bite of something delicious that you made. Or when someone asks for the recipe! Pretend they are yours I will never give you away.

This first recipe combines some of my most favorite flavors and things. Cinnamon, Vanilla and Cream Cheese! I found this recipe on a blog called my yellow umbrella. Check out this Sopapilla Cheesecake.

This second recipe I found on pinterest, but it was amazing when I tried it! It combines my love for all things lemon poppy seed and pancakes! Thanks to Pickycook.com for the wonderful recipe to these breakfast bombshell Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes!

So in the words of Britney Spears, " why dontcha do something?!"

xoxo,
ACE
